Abstract

Pythagoras followed the Indian tradition on Raga. And he did both in acoustic and philosophical level. This would be the conclusion on this script, on which I try to embed the mystic teachings on the matter with the complexity it has. Without a doubt, Pythagoras does not influence on creating the Indian system on shrutis not according to its chronological order nor according to the the complexity of it compared to his. But of course, It is likely to be the opposite. As far as we know about Pythagoras’ biography (Porfirio, Diogenes Laercio, Iamblichus), he was taught in Memphis, Egypt, with the heliopolitans and after the diospolitans (also in Egypt), and at some point he would end up in Babylon. In these past times commerce between East and West had been long ago stablished and with that, the flow of ideas and knowledge. Pythagoras could have learned music from an early age and then entered as grew older in secret societies where his intellect could’ve been appreciated and developed. This passage of his life is surrounded by mistery and leads straight on to from where he obtained his notable quotes of wisdom in the ontologic paths of music.
